| Eyal Sela, classically
trained in a music academy, took a sharp turn in his musical interests a
decade ago. Eyal began to focus on studying and playing the music of different
ethnic cultures, from the Balkans to India. During this time Eyal was a member of the "Al-Ol" ensemble and cooperated over the years with Yair Dalal. Stations along the way have included: a performance at the ceremony for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, recordings in Norway, and tours and concerts all over the world - United States, Australia, Europe, Hong Kong and others. Eyal has also cooperated with Shlomo Bar on the "Sejera" project for the Inbal Dance Troupe, and has orchestrated for the troupe one of its most popular works - "East Wind." Eyal has performed with renowned international artists such as Adel Salame - a Palestinian ud player who lives in London, and the famous lyre player Ross Daly. Eyal put out his first album ("Hijaz") three years ago and "Magda" is currently reissuing it in an updated, elegant cover - as befits this fine album. Eyal is currently concluding the recording for his new album, which is due to be issued April 15. "...The authentic represntative of classic ethnic music is called Eyal Sela, ablowing instrument player and a member of Yair Dalal's "ensembel Al Ol". Ma'ariv. 18.6.99 "...The muisic of Eyal Sela has Irish and Hindo references and is far from the elevator like music that fluds the World Music scene..." Bat-Yam - 20/5/99 |
