Oud Prayers on the Road to St. Jacques -
Sacred Music of the Abrahamic Faiths
Yuval Ron's Forth album for Magda was recorded in three chapels in France
(Notre Dame De La Pierre, Caubin &
Cagnez) as a symbolic journey through
the historic footprints of pilgrim St. Jacques de Compostelle.
Using elements like mysticism and meditation in his music, Ron tries to
to discover the ultimate integration between
3 religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This project is different from previous ones because there are 3 solo
recitals, recorded at three different locations. With this choice, Ron
preserves Compostelle's humble spirit 2000 years
earlier – as was Abraham's departure from Ur of the Chaldees.
The sound of Oud echoing within these Chapels gains new and hypnotic qualities. The compositions are deep, introspective, full of variedness and illuminated with appeasement. It is as if the repertoire is being entwined to long and endless medleys of Judeo-Iraqi, Christian-Maronite, Turkish-Sufi and
Christian-Armenian Music.

מתוך כוונה להתחקות אחר עקבותיו ההיסטוריות של הקדוש ז'אק דה קופוסטל, שליחו של ישו.
באמצעות מוסיקה שהיא מיסטית ומדיטטיבית, מנסה רון למצוא את השילוב האולטימטיבי בין שלושת הדתות – יהדות, נצרות ואיסלאם.
שלא כמו אלבומיו הקודמים, זהו אלבום סולו עוד המורכב משלושה רסיטלים. בבחירתו של רון לנגן סולו הוא מבקש לשמר את רוחו
ודרכו הצנועה של קופוסטל כמה מאות שנים לפניו – בדומה לעזיבתו של אברהם אבינו את אור כשדים.
צלילו של העוד כפי שהוא מהדהד בין קירות בתי התפילה השונים, זוכה כאן לאיכויות חדשות ומהפנטות. היצירות עמוקות,
אינטרוספקטיביות, רב-גוניות ומוארות באור של פיוס. הרפרטואר נשזר למעין מחרוזות מוסיקליות עשירות של מוסיקה
יהודית-עיראקית, נוצרית-מרונית, סופית- תורכית ונוצרית-ארמנית.
