The Supplications - Sacred Liturgical Poems of the Oriental Jews Artistic

"The Supplications" (*Baqashot - see page 2) is a wide and comprehensive project, perpetuating traditional religious poems of the Sephardi Jews, performed by the greatest vocalists of our time. This project took 3 years to realize and this is the first out of 4 volumes, which consist of 10 CDs.

Along with the production of contemporary Ethnic and World music, Magda dedicates a considerable amount of its efforts to document the traditional aspects of Jewish music. These aspects are mainly evident in many of the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra albums. Lior Elmaleh who participates as a singer in one of them (MGD 040), is the initiator and artistic director of the current project. Many of the poems are sung Acappella - each time by a different singer and some of them have an accompaniment of a single instrument such as the Oud or percussion.
