Master Omar Faruk Tekbilek and a super group of Middle Eastern musicians join together for a complex spiritual journey, based on the sacred chants of the three religious traditions of the Middle East. A tapestry of soulful chanting, ambient sounds of the desert and countless musical layers reveal how similar the different cultures of the Middle East are. In ONE the music is pointing to the alternative path of peace, co-existence and the nature of being. It is ONE.
The collaboration between composer Yuval Ron and Turkish virtuoso Omar Faruk Tekbilek was revealed worldwide in the 1999 release of the album ONE TRUTH.
A year earlier, Yuval Ron invited Omar Faruk to record the soundtrack to Akiva Tevet's film "Love in the First Degree" which was composed by Yuval in 1998. Months later, Omar Faruk invited Yuval to compose the score to the film "Inshallah" by the Egyptian director Hani Narouz. Omar Faruk had originally been slated to compose the film score. Instead, he chose to perform on all instruments on the recording and have Yuval compose the music.
The unique collaboration between the two led to the creation of the album ONE - a musical and spiritual journey based on combining the musical themes of both films.
The work was recorded in the sound studios of Hollywood with string orchestra featuring soloists Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Rabbi Haim Louk, the female singer Azam Ali (of the group Vas), violinist Nabil Azzam and percussion virtuoso Pejman Hadadi. Violin and oud player Yair Dalal was recorded in the dunes of the Sinai desert (Egypt). It was there that additional field recordings were done, capturing Bedouins' voices and all the desert ambient sounds that accompany the work from its start to its finale on the shores of the Red Sea.
Most of the musical themes originated from chants and traditional melodies of the three religions of the Middle East. The artists that joined together to perform the work represent a wide range of the ethnic groups of the area.
The countless layers, the various artists and the chants of different religions create a facinating testimony of the desertvoyage to the experience of oneness. An experience that is above and beyons the separating dualistic perspective, It os a musical journey to the nature of being. ONE.
