Israeli Andalusian Orchestra - New Generation
"Premices" was the first album by the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra, issued by Magda in 1995. In following years, Magda became the home for many projects by the orchestra with its various singers. Now the time has come to meet and discover a young generation of singers - the new generation. This new double album introduces three young singers (at the ages of 14 – 21) who follow and represent the traditional singing of Jews from North Africa (especially those from Morocco). These three unique and different voices perform the classical repertoire of the Andalusian music. This music derives its powers from its ability to unite religious and secular audiences and the cultural message it delivers: music which is both Arab and Jewish - performed by both matured veterans and young virtuosos. The result is exciting due to the punctiliousness of the performers and thanks to their devotion to the spirit of those who originally performed these songs.
